Life Between Umbrellas was a design ideas competition for rain-friendly public spaces held in 2019. Open to everyone (professionals, creatives, arm-chair designers and youth), it generated a wide array of creative ideas for improving Vancouver’s public spaces during the wet weather months.

The Challenges and Opportunities of Rainy Weather in Vancouver

Vancouver receives the equivalent of over five months of rainy weather a year. How can our public spaces better respond to the wet weather – and the challenges and opportunities that it provides?
